Digital Bench

Logic chips, real timing. Place a 74HC00, a 74HC74, a 6116, a 555, wire the pins, and Check grades the board you built. Here a logic level is a voltage band, families disagree about it, and an unused CMOS input is never free.

The chips you can actually buy

56 chip types across seven families, from 74HC and 74LS to CD4000B, each with its own thresholds and propagation delays. Four-value nets show where a signal is high, low, floating or fighting, and datasheet questions ask you to read the numbers a real design depends on.

Timing

Catch a glitch in the act

Gates take time, and Digital Bench counts it in nanoseconds. Build the circuit that glitches, then fix it. Read a flip-flop's setup and hold times and watch what happens when they are broken.

The course

From one inverter to a program in RAM

You start by lighting one LED from one inverter. Ten chapters later you have:

  • Built logic from gates and caught a hazard.
  • Debounced a button with a Schmitt gate and built a ring oscillator.
  • Counted, divided and decoded: counters, seven segments, a traffic light.
  • Loaded a countdown program into a RAM and watched it run.

Brief, Learn, glossary

Every exercise teaches first

A short brief, a deeper Learn page, hints one at a time, a 143-term glossary that opens in place, and a recap card for every chapter. The sandbox has thirteen starter boards and a bench line with time, speed and supply current.

The glossary: 143 terms, each linked to the exercise that introduces it

Free to start

The first five exercises are free, plus five previews from later chapters: a ring oscillator, a divide-by-two, a decade counter, a seven-segment display and a traffic light. One in-app purchase unlocks the full course for good. No subscription, no ads, no account.
